Hello creatures!

Posted on Jun 9th, 2007 by Loh El : Human being Loh El
Well, I don't "blog" much these days, but I may as well introduce myself. I used to do the livejournal thing but I just got tired of the fact that all my friends there lived generally in the United States (I live in Canada) and had no plan of action.

I have spent the past four years or so waking up. When I was younger I thought, quite literally, that I was an alien. My life experience has taught me that there is a lot of work to be done if we don't want to commit a global suicide. Maybe that is what we want, and hey, that's okay with me. It's not what I want though, I would far rather see a global evolution that maintains an environment for human bodies.

So when you read this blog, you'll find more of an emphasis on activism than spirituality, but what is activism other than actualizing one's spirit? I am not one of those activists who bitches about everything but never actually acts, nor am I the one who protests but doesn't practice, (in other words, who doesn't "walk the talk"). I'm aware of my strengths and weaknesses and I'm making steps towards catalyzing a free world.

I came to Zaadz because I wanted to be a part of an intentional community, and since I don't have the relationships in my own city to create a real living harmony, I figured I get virtual first. The beauty of the internet is that it empowers us beyond what is possible within direct physical experience. The virtual landscape extends our reach much farther than the physical landscape.

I hope that I'll meet some people who are in my corner of the world through Zaadz, and that we'll be able to work together to create conscious community and usher in a new paradigm.

My plans involve at the moment learning how to garden/farm, how to build sustainable infrastructure, how to teach in a whole-istic synergistic model that empowers the student first rather than the economy, and ultimately I would like to build a sustainable franchise community.

With enough people working together, anything is possible. The kinds of changes that are needed to make this world sane are simple: go outside, talk to neighbors, grow some vegetables, get a solar panel or a roof garden, bike instead of drive... As an individual these are changes all within arms reach. Once you do this as an individual, a community begins to form. Suddenly you and your neighbors, fellow gardeners and bikers or what-not are together able to take on new changes such as rebuilding a suburban community to have a communal parking lot and more garden space, or installing a solar energy farm near a park...

I live in a suburban neighborhood, so that is my own bias speaking up there. But there are even more changes that a community can take on. Where I live, in the political heart of Canada, it's capital, our roads are insane! Try driving downtown during rush hour and you'll see what I mean. Our cities, quite simply, don't make any sense. Public transit could efficiently move everyone where they need to go, if only people could let go of this fear of sharing a vehicle with someone else.

I believe that as more people get together and talk, the more they share in mind, body and spirit. Bringing down the number of cars on the road and replacing car-obsessed infrastructure with public transit infrastructure to use cars less is a far more effective way to create a sustainable world than building new hydrogen pipelines to fuel our lifestyles.

I'm all about changing the lifestyle we subscribe to. Without that, I don't think global change is possible. I would like to live in a place where I know the people who grow my food, make my clothing, and build my home, schools and other buildings. As I learn how to farm, build and teach, I will be actively working towards creating such a community.

My ideal community is near the city, where an active propoganda and education campaign can be asserted to transform the lives of city-dwellers who are disconnected from their resources and the land and people they depend on. I value the anarchic ideal of freedom and believe there is no higher form of governance than the actions of the people themselves.

I have a vision of a self-sustaining school of stewardship/mini-farm/art studio/mini-press that I would like to build with an empowered community of realized individuals. If you live in Ontario, have a similar vision, or even if you don't and you just want to hang out, send me a message and we'll get in touch!

I'm going to cut my introduction there, because, well, frankly I have things to do today and I need to go shower right now. But I will expand on everything I spoke of above, although it may take me awhile. In the meantime, please check out the free-media project I am working on from within the suburbs in an attempt to catalyze the vision I mentioned above as well as a global search for truth.
